Tendulkar was writing at the time of Girish Karnad, Mohan Rakesh, Mahesh Elkunchwar and Badal Sircar who were creating a renaissance in Indian Theatre. He imparts social expose of sex, violence, cruelty, discrimination, hatred, injustice, exploitation and many more social evils and with the help of his plays he raises his voice against those social evils directly or indirectly. Tendulkar unfolds the different layers of protest in his plays. He protested against all those ideologies which are responsible for any kind of suppression, discrimination, violence etc.
The Book centered on Tendulkar’s plays, and his concern on the various kinds of protests as violent protest, mock protest, silent protest, collective protest and many more. He has given the voices of protest against traditional ways of sexuality which gives power to the various provinces of human life. It focuses on protests against caste discrimination, violence, cruelty against women, criminals, misuse of authority, murders, victimizer, white collar criminals, wrong ideologies, humiliation, exploitation, subjugation, legal system, inhuman culture, immorality, extra-marital affairs, rise and destruction of power seekers, break- down of the marriage and family and politics of press. Tendulkar protested to achieve social justice, liberty, equality for all.
